Longtime Allman Brothers Band guitarist, singer and songwriter Dickey Betts died yesterday at the age of 80. His manager David Spero tells Rolling Stone that he’d been suffering from cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He’d also had a minor stroke in 2018, that was followed by a fall at home that effectively ended his touring and recording career – LINK

While The Allman Brothers Band organization posted a tribute to original guitarist Dickey Betts, who died Thursday at the age of 80, three of the band members — drummer Jaimoe and guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks — and two of the sons — Devon Allman and Berry Oakley Jr. — have also shared tributes – LINK

Shinedown frontman Brent Smith wants to collaborate with Jelly Roll. Interviewed on the podcast Spout, he said that it “100 percent might be in the works,” then added, “I mean, I don’t know. If I say it, it’s probably going to happen.” He says he and Jelly Roll have a “mutual love for one another” and that he just cares “so deeply about who [Jelly Roll] is as an individual and his story.”
